The peaks of the Flattops loom high above the lake and even in late June, this profusion of wildflowers, nestled into the rocks at the shoreline and some green grass was the only real sign of spring. I commuted 1/2 mile from my campsite over a 3-day period to paint this scene and wore long underwear all day. Only the last day was enough to shed my jacket!
This painting received the People's Choice Award at the Meeker Plein Air Competition.
